PC has been drawn in lately by a summer staple she left behind in Florida (along with her childhood and that tanning salon membership): the straw bag. In New York, straw seemed too stiff to handle packed subways and thick crowds, you can almost hear the raffia being crunched by a briefcase. But the straw bag keeps coming back summer after summer—just like the Hampton Jitney—in classic styles and new reinterpretations. So start grasping at straw—and a few other summer staples.

PC was reminded the other day of a summer staple she left behind in Florida along with her childhood and that tanning salon membership: the straw bag. In New York, straw seems too stiff to handle packed subways and thick crowds, you can almost hear the raffia being crunched by a briefcase. PC is starting to think she’s been wrong for too long though. The straw bag keeps coming back summer after summer—just like the Hampton Jitney—in classic styles and new reinterpretations. So start grasping at straws and a few other summer staples.

PC’s softball coach is rarely on the cutting edge of fashion, but this year when he decided to go tie dye for our team uniforms—he showed his chic side. Designers are tie dying like geared-up hippies, but not just t-shirts meant for Bonnaroo. Now its on drapey silk shirts, button downs, and geometric tops.
